What is Expanded PTFE Membrane?

1. Brief introduction to expanded PTFE membrane

PTFE, commonly known as "plastic king", is a kind of high molecular polymer polymerized with tetrafluoroethylene as monomer. This kind of material has the characteristics of acid resistance, alkali resistance and resistance to various organic solvents. At the same time, PTFE has the characteristics of high temperature resistance. Its friction coefficient is very low, so it can be used as a lubricant and an ideal coating for cleaning the inner layer of water pipes.

2. Properties and stability of expanded PTFE membrane

It is stable at normal temperature and pressure. Avoiding wet and hot environment is needed. There is no point at high temperature in a real sense. It decomposes slowly above 450 ℃ and becomes gas directly. At 327 ℃, the mechanical strength suddenly disappears.

Expanded PTFE membrane is insoluble in any solvent. In addition to reacting with molten alkali metal, it is not eroded by any substance, and even when boiled in hydrofluoric acid, aqua regia or fuming sulfuric acid or sodium hydroxide, it has no change.

Expanded PTFE membrane has excellent chemical stability, corrosion resistance, sealing performance, electrical insulation and good aging resistance.. It is highly lubricated and non adhesive.

It is resistant to high and low temperature, and has good mechanical toughness at low temperature. Even when the temperature drops to - 196 ℃, it can keep 5% elongation.

It is resistant to corrosion, inert to most chemicals and solvents, and resistant to strong acids, strong bases, water and various organic solvents.

It has good weather resistance with the best aging life of plastics.

It is highly lubricated and has the lowest friction coefficient among solid materials.

It does not adhere, is the lowest surface tension of solid materials, which does not adhere to any substance.

It has no toxicity and physiological inertia. As artificial blood vessels and organs, it will not cause adverse reactions after long-term implantation.
